Attock court jails drug convict for nine years, imposes Rs100,000 fine

ATTOCK, Jun 23 (APP):A court in Attock on Tuesday sentenced a convicted drug trafficker to nine years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs100,000 after finding him guilty in a narcotics case investigated by Attock Police.
According to police officials, the accused, Shah Jahan, son of Ameer Khan and a resident of Garhi Matni in Hazro tehsil, was arrested by Rango Police following the recovery of narcotics from his possession. A case was subsequently registered against him under the relevant provisions of the narcotics laws.
Police said the investigating officer carried out a thorough investigation, gathered substantial evidence and submitted a comprehensive challan before the court, leading to the successful prosecution of the accused. The case was heard under Case No. 150/2024.
Announcing the verdict, Additional Sessions Judge Nadeem Ahmad Suhail Cheema found the accused guilty and awarded him nine years of rigorous imprisonment along with a Rs100,000 fine. Police officials described the conviction as a significant outcome of their ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and ensure that narcotics offenders are brought to justice through effective investigation and prosecution.
