QUETTA, Jun 23 (APP):Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Tuesday reaffirmed the provincial government’s firm commitment to promoting higher education, enhancing the capacity of universities, and equipping students with modern facilities that meet the demands of the contemporary era.
He made these remarks while chairing a high-level meeting convened to address challenges faced by the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Makran, Panjgur, and to improve teaching standards. The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Education Raheela Hameed Durrani, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Zahid Saleem, and Secretary Higher Education Muhammad Saleh Baloch. Vice Chancellor of the University of Makran, Professor Dr. Saadat Baloch, joined via video link.
During the session, key decisions were taken to ensure immediate and long-term solutions. It was resolved that a PhD degree holder Chairman and two lecturers would be appointed without delay, while permanent teaching staff would also be recruited to strengthen the department and ensure quality education.
Chief Minister Bugti directed that all necessary measures be completed promptly to improve academic standards in universities, particularly in critical fields such as Information Technology and Computer Sciences. He stressed that empowering Balochistan’s youth with modern knowledge and skills was among the government’s top priorities, and any delay or negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
He further emphasized that the provincial government was pursuing practical and lasting reforms to resolve the challenges faced by educational institutions, ensuring sustainable improvements in higher education across the province.
