OGDCL commences gas production from Sahito-1 discovery well in Khairpur, Sindh

ISLAMABAD, Jun 23 (APP):Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Tuesday announced the successful commencement of gas production from the Sahito-1 discovery well in the Lower Goru Formation (Massive Sand) within the Khewari Exploration Licence located in Khairpur district, Sindh.
The gas discovery at Sahito-1 was announced on March 26. The well was currently producing 6.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. Production was expected to increase progressively following the planned expansion of surface facilities, according to a news release.
To facilitate early monetisation of the discovery, OGDC has laid a six-inch, five-kilometre flowline connecting the well to the Suleman Gathering Facility for onward processing at the Sinjhoro Plant.
The processed gas was being injected into the network of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGCL).
Sahito-1 is located in the Khairpur district of Sindh. OGDC, as operator of the Khewari Exploration Licence, held a 75 percent working interest in the joint venture, while Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) held the remaining 25 percent interest.
The commencement of production from Sahito-1 marked another important milestone in OGDC’s efforts to accelerate the development and monetisation of indigenous hydrocarbon resources, strengthen domestic energy supplies, and contribute to the country’s energy security.
