PESHAWAR, Jun 22 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the establishment of the first modern goat breeding farm in the southern districts of the province, to be set up in Kohat’s PK-90 constituency.
The project, estimated to cost Rs 875 million, is aimed at modernising the livestock sector and strengthening the rural economy through improved animal husbandry practices.
According to officials, the facility would include advanced veterinary services, genetic improvement programmes and dedicated training units to support local livestock farmers.
The initiative is intended to increase meat and milk production by promoting high-yield goat breeds and improving breeding standards.
The project is also expected to enhance self-sufficiency in the livestock sector and create employment opportunities in rural areas. Small-scale farmers are likely to benefit through access to improved breeds, technical assistance and stronger market linkages.
Local stakeholders welcomed the initiative and described it as an important step towards agricultural and rural development in the region.
Officials said the project is expected to support the formalisation and commercial expansion of the livestock sector in Kohat and adjoining districts.
