ITP issues traffic plan for 6th Muharram procession on Express Highway

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP)  issued a comprehensive traffic management plan for the 6th Muharram procession originating from the Khanna area and advised commuters to use alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 22 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP)  issued a comprehensive traffic management plan for the 6th Muharram procession originating from the Khanna area and advised commuters to use alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.
An ITP official told APP on Monday that the procession would commence from the residence of Zulfiqar Shah in the jurisdiction of Khanna Police Station and proceed through designated routes before concluding at Imambargah Qasr-e-Sakina on Express Highway near Sihala-Shakrial.
The official said special traffic arrangements had been put in place to ensure smooth movement of mourners and maintain traffic flow in the surrounding areas.
According to the traffic plan, Express Highway from Shakrial-Koral to Faizabad will remain closed for traffic during the procession.
Heavy traffic coming from Lahore will be diverted towards Rawalpindi via Rawat T-Cross, while light vehicles travelling from Lahore will be redirected from Koral Chowk through Airport Road, Rawal Road and Murree Road towards Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The official said traffic coming from Koral would be diverted through the Khanna underpass loop, Khanna Bridge, Lehtrar Road and Captain Muhammad Tufail Niazi Shaheed (Tramri) Road, before proceeding towards Park Road and Rawal Dam Chowk for access to Islamabad.
Citizens were requested to use alternate routes during the procession and cooperate with traffic police personnel to facilitate smooth traffic flow.
Participants in the procession were advised to park their vehicles and motorcycles only in designated parking areas to avoid congestion and inconvenience.
The official advised road users to follow Islamabad Traffic Police social media platforms and tune in to FM 92.4 for the latest traffic updates and travel advisories.
