Pakistan’s diplomatic role reflects commitment to global peace, says Iftikhar Malik

LAHORE, Jun 21 (APP): South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Chamber of Commerce and Industry former President Iftikhar Ali Malik on Sunday urged global players to extend full support to the US-Iran rapprochement and make diplomatic efforts successful by transforming the preliminary understanding into a comprehensive and enduring peace framework.

In a statement issued here, he hoped sustainable peace in the Middle East would not only benefit the people of the region but also strengthen the global economy by ensuring uninterrupted trade and energy flows. He said the historic understanding could pave the way for broader cooperation, mutual trust, and lasting stability, while opening new avenues for economic development, investment and international collaboration.

Iftikhar Ali Malik felicitated Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces General Syed Asim Munir for their pivotal role in facilitating the landmark US-Iran rapprochement, terming it a significant diplomatic achievement and an important step towards global peace and stability.

He said Pakistan’s successful mediation efforts reflected the country’s growing stature as a responsible and credible player in international diplomacy. He added that the understanding reached between Washington and Tehran after months of negotiations and diplomatic engagement would have positive implications for lasting peace in the Middle East and beyond.

He said that tensions in the region had posed serious challenges to international security, global trade routes, energy supplies and economic growth. The breakthrough, he added, would help reduce geopolitical uncertainties, restore investor confidence and contribute to regional prosperity.

Iftikhar Malik further said Pakistan’s constructive role as a mediator had enhanced its image as a peace-loving nation committed to dialogue and conflict resolution.
