CTP Rawalpindi launches Juvenile driving permit for teenagers aged 16

RAWALPINDI, Jun 20 (APP):City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have officially introduced a Juvenile Driving Permit, allowing teenagers aged 16 years to obtain permission to drive under a regulated framework.
According to CTP spokesperson, the permit will be issued to both boys and girls below the age of 18, but only with the consent of parents or guardians.
The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam stated that the permit will be strictly limited to motorcycle use and will not apply to other vehicles.
Under the new system, holders of the Juvenile Driving Permit will be allowed to operate motorcycles or scooty up to 125cc. CTO warned that the permit will be cancelled in cases of serious or repeated traffic violations, stressing strict enforcement to ensure road safety and responsible driving behavior among young riders.
Official have also confirmed that the annual fee for the permit will range between Rs500 and Rs1,000 and further emphasized that the use of helmets will be mandatory for all juvenile permit holders while driving.
CTP spokesperson said applicants must present a Smart Card or B-Form to be eligible.
Additionally, candidates will be required to pass both a written (sign) test and a practical road test before the permit is issued. Those who successfully clear the tests will be granted the permit on the spot.
