LAHORE, Jun 20 (APP):The Crime Control Department (CCD) Punjab has reported a significant decline in serious and organized crimes across Lahore during its first year of operations, with major crimes witnessing a reduction
of up to 58 per cent.
According to the CCD Lahore performance report issued here on Saturday, the department conducted extensive operations against criminals across Punjab, resulting in a visible decrease in murder, dacoity, robbery, vehicle theft and other serious offences.
The report revealed that before the establishment of the CCD, 29,471 serious crime incidents were reported in one year, while after its formation, the number dropped to 12,470 cases during the following year.
The incidents of murder decreased by 36 per cent, falling from 399 cases before CCD to 254 cases after its establishment. Dacoity cases declined by 53 per cent, from 72 to 34 cases, while robbery incidents witnessed a 77 per cent reduction, decreasing from 8,649 cases to 1,990 cases.
The report further revealed a decline in other serious offences, including a 25 per cent reduction in murder during dacoity cases and a noticeable decrease in injuries caused during such incidents.
A complete reduction was recorded in rape-cum-murder cases in Lahore, with eight such incidents reported before CCD and none during the last year after its establishment.
Regarding vehicle-related crimes, motorcycle snatching decreased by 74 per cent, motorcycle theft by 49 per cent, and car theft by 75 per cent. Car theft cases dropped from 379 in the year before CCD to 94 after its formation. Burglary cases also declined by 46 per cent.
The report highlighted that during operations against organized and heinous crimes, one CCD officer embraced martyrdom while 46 personnel sustained injuries.
