LAHORE, Jun 20 (APP): Government Shahdara Teaching Hospital has strengthened its healthcare delivery system through the optimal utilization of available resources and a proactive management strategy, resulting in a significant improvement in the hospital’s overall performance.
Medical Superintendent Dr Adnan shared the hospital’s performance report for the last three months with the media on Saturday, stating that the institution has provided treatment facilities to more than 123,000 patients in the Outpatient Department (OPD) and 147,990 patients in the Emergency Department. He said these achievements reflect the health vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the policy framework of the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department.
Dr. Adnan said Government Shahdara Teaching Hospital has become a major healthcare facility for both rural and urban populations residing on the western bank of the River Ravi. He noted that residents of nearby towns, villages, and surrounding localities are benefiting from teaching hospital-level medical services close to their homes.
Highlighting the performance of the hospital’s Gynae and Obstetrics Department, he said 483 major Caesarean section operations were successfully performed during the last three months, while 614 babies were delivered through normal childbirth. Comprehensive healthcare services were provided to mothers and newborns throughout the period.
He further informed that the hospital conducted 196 general surgeries, 118 orthopedic surgeries, and 24 urology operations during the reporting period. According to Dr. Adnan, the hospital’s doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff have been performing their duties with dedication, professionalism, and commitment to patient care.
The Medical Superintendent said an integrated system of monitoring and coordination has been introduced to improve the quality of healthcare services and maintain cleanliness standards across hospital wards and other areas. He added that special attention is also being given to the welfare of hospital employees.
As part of staff welfare initiatives, a daycare center for the children of female workers has been made operational and equipped with necessary facilities. In addition, a Musafir Khana and waiting shed have been established for patient attendants, providing seating arrangements and access to cold drinking water.
Dr. Adnan said electric water coolers have also been installed at various locations in the hospital to facilitate attendants and visitors during the ongoing hot weather conditions. These measures, he said, are aimed at improving comfort and convenience for patients and their families.
He added that coordination among the ICU, Emergency, Radiology, and Pathology departments has been further strengthened to ensure prompt emergency response and critical care services. Uninterrupted oxygen supply has also been ensured to facilitate the treatment of critically ill patients under an immediate response protocol.
Dr. Adnan reaffirmed the hospital administration’s commitment to continuing coordinated efforts and reforms to make Government Shahdara Teaching Hospital more patient-friendly and to further enhance the quality of medical services available to the public.
