NCCIA, UMT sign MoU to promote cyber security education,research

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and the University of Management and Technology (UMT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and research collaboration in the field of cyber security, marking a significant step towards enhancing Pakistan’s digital security landscape.

LAHORE, Jun 20 (APP): The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and the University of Management and Technology (UMT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and research collaboration in the field of cyber security, marking a significant step towards enhancing Pakistan’s digital security landscape.
The agreement was signed by NCCIA Director Muhammad Ali Waseem and UMT Dean Dr Atif Alvi at a ceremony held here on Saturday.
Under the MoU, both institutions will jointly undertake research and development (R&D) projects in cyber security and pursue national and international research grants to promote innovation and technological advancement.
As part of the collaboration, NCCIA will organize workshops, seminars and knowledge-sharing sessions for UMT faculty members and students to enhance awareness and expertise in emerging cyber security domains.
The agency will also provide guidance and mentorship for final-year student projects under its Tech 2.0 Initiative, particularly in specialized areas such as Blockchain, Cloud Computing and Malware Analysis.
According to the agreement, NCCIA representatives will join UMT’s advisory board and contribute to the modernization of the university’s academic curriculum to align it with evolving technological trends and cyber security requirements.
Both institutions will further collaborate on public awareness campaigns through social media and digital platforms to educate citizens about cyber threats, online safety and responsible digital practices.
The partnership was being regarded as an important initiative for strengthening Pakistan’s cyber resilience, fostering innovation and developing a skilled workforce capable of addressing emerging digital security challenges in an increasingly interconnected world.
