ISLAMABAD, Jun 20 (APP): Online businesses are reshaping the economic landscape, emerging as a powerful source of income for women working from home as they harness digital platforms and cashless payment systems to attract customers and introduce modern trends for special occasions like weddings, birthday and annual festivals, turning home-based work into a growing symbol of financial independence.
Many women are engaging in online businesses from home, managing orders through social media and using cashless payment systems to complete transactions, which is providing them flexible earning opportunities while balancing household responsibilities and building steady customer networks.
A woman named Shabana Anwar commented that online platforms have given them a new source of confidence and financial independence as they are now running home-based businesses in clothing, cosmetics, event planning, photography and catering for special occasions, while using social media and cashless payments to reach more customers and manage their work efficiently from home.
A school teacher Ruhsana Tanveer said she started selling handmade cosmetics online to support her family income, a university student shared that she earns through event photography bookings on weekends, while a homemaker noted that she manages a small catering service for family functions and special events, all highlighting how digital opportunities have turned side businesses into sustainable earning sources of cashless payments in online businesses has made transactions faster, safer and more transparent, helping both buyers and sellers build trust and expand their digital trade networks.
A woman from a public office Ifra commented that such digital platforms are providing real-world practical experience to women entrepreneurs, helping them build skills in marketing, customer handling and financial management.
 Another woman from Private school teacher Daneen added that the use of TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp groups is accelerating women’s participation in the digital economy and strengthening home-based
entrepreneurship across the country.
Shezray Husain, CEO of a company, also commented that the rise of women-led online businesses reflects a strong shift toward digital empowerment, where technology is enabling women to scale their ventures, reach wider markets and build sustainable income streams from home.
Through online platforms, women entrepreneurs said they are offering customized designs, time-saving solutions, and a variety of catering services that cater to different customer needs for special occasions.
They added that digital tools and social media have made it easier to receive orders, share creative ideas and deliver services efficiently while managing work from home, helping them save time and expand their customer reach.
A traditional clothing brand businesswoman added that moving from shop-based work to online platforms has made business easier, faster and more profitable by reaching a wider customer base through digital tools and cashless payments.
