Mega projects in tourism, agriculture, minerals, infrastructure development in KP budget announced

PESHAWAR, Jun 19 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government here Friday included several major initiatives in its 2026–27 budget aimed at boosting economic growth, creating employment opportunities, and encouraging private investment across the tourism, agriculture, mining, road infrastructure, and industrial development sectors.

 

Announcing KP budget for FY 2026-27, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that total of Rs 52.9 billion has been allocated for the development of road infrastructure in the province.

 

These funds will support the implementation of 243 new and 482 ongoing development projects, which are expected to improve connectivity and stimulate trade and commercial activities across various regions of the province.

 

The government has also included a major road construction project to improve access to tourist destinations in the Hazara Division. The project has an estimated total cost of Rs 8.92 billion, with Rs 920 million allocated for the 2026–27 fiscal year.

 

To promote the mining sector, Rs 100 million has been earmarked for the Sustainable Development of the Mulagouri Marble Cluster project, while Rs 140 million has been allocated for the establishment of Mohmand Marble City.

 

These initiatives are intended to attract investment and create employment opportunities in mineral-rich areas.

 

In the tourism sector, a project worth Rs 800 million has been included to promote tourism activities in the merged districts.

 

Additionally, Rs 3 billion has been allocated for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project (KITE), which aims to improve tourism infrastructure, visitor facilities, and investment opportunities.

 

To strengthen the rural economy, Rs 770 million will be provided under the Rural Economic Transformation Plan. Furthermore, Rs 300 million has been allocated for the Promotion of Dryland Farming Practices project to support agriculture in the southern districts’ arid areas.

 

The CM stated that these projects are expected to increase economic activity across the province, encourage private-sector investment, promote the development of the tourism and mining sectors, and generate thousands of new jobs, ultimately improving the overall economic situation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
