Punjab health minister reviews progress of Jinnah Institute of Cardiology

LAHORE, Jun 19 (APP):Punjab Minister for Health Khawaja Salman Rafique on Friday announced that the Outpatient Department (OPD) and emergency services of the under-construction Jinnah Institute of Cardiology (JIC) Lahore would be opened for the public very soon.
The minister made the announcement during his visit to the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology Lahore, where he reviewed the progress of construction work and inspected various sections of the project.
During the visit, officials from the Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab (IDAP) and project contractors briefed the minister on the pace of construction and the status of ongoing development work at the facility.
Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique said the Punjab government was constructing the state-of-the-art cardiac hospital at a cost of more than Rs18 billion. He said the institution would provide international-standard cardiac treatment facilities to patients from across the province.
The health minister said all relevant departments, including IDAP, were working round the clock to ensure timely completion of the project. He expressed confidence that the hospital would be completed according to schedule and would significantly strengthen specialized healthcare services in Punjab.
He said thousands of heart patients would benefit from the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology, which would help reduce the burden on existing cardiac healthcare facilities and improve access to quality treatment.
Chairman Punjab Chief Minister’s Advisory Committee on Cardiology Dr. Farqad Alamgir said the provincial government was making dedicated efforts to expand treatment facilities for patients suffering from heart diseases and to provide quality healthcare closer to their homes.
He said patients visiting the new cardiology hospital would have access to highly qualified surgeons, modern operation theatres and advanced treatment and care facilities designed to meet international standards.
Medical Superintendent of Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Dr. Aamir Rafique Butt, was also present during the visit. The participants expressed satisfaction over the progress of the project and reiterated their commitment to ensuring its timely completion for the benefit of cardiac patients across Punjab.
