ISLAMABAD, Jun 19 (APP):Formal political consultations among major political stakeholders have begun regarding the formation of the government in Gilgit-Baltistan. In this connection, an important meeting was held in Gilgit between the Central and Provincial leadership of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, during which detailed discussions were held on the region’s political situation, government formation and other matters of mutual interest.
According to details, the Pakistan Peoples’ Party delegation, comprising Secretary General Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Amjad Hussain Advocate, welcomed the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party delegation. The IPP delegation included the Party’s Central Secretary General Mian Khalid Mahmood, President of IPP Gilgit-Baltistan and former Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan, former Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon and General Secretary IPP Gilgit-Baltistan Fatehullah Khan, said a press release issued on Friday.
During the meeting, both sides held detailed consultations on Government formation in Gilgit-Baltistan as well as other important political and administrative matters. The leadership of both parties reaffirmed their commitment to playing a positive role in promoting political stability, strengthening democratic traditions and advancing public welfare in the region.
It was agreed that all political forces must move forward through mutual understanding, respect and democratic processes in order to place Gilgit-Baltistan on the path of genuine development and prosperity. The leaders expressed hope that the process of Government formation, carried out through political and democratic means, would serve the best interests of the people of the region.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue their mutual contacts and consultations in the future and reiterated their commitment to working together for a better political future, sustainable development and public service in Gilgit-Baltistan.
