894 Ebola cases were confirmed, three times higher than Uganda’s outbreak recorded in 2000 at the same stage.
Only 74 patients recovered so far.
The outbreak spread across 32 health zones in eastern Congo.
Contact tracing hampered by remoteness, lack of funding, personnel shortages, and displacement.
Only 4,112 individuals are currently under follow-up, compared to an estimated 35,000 exposed.
