ANF arrests 11 suspects, seizes over 42 kg of narcotics in nationwide operations
RAWALPINDI, Jun 19 (APP):The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted seven operations in different parts of the country on Friday and arrested 11 suspects, including six women, and recovered 42.77 kilograms(kgs) of narcotics worth more than Rs10.4 million.
According to the ANF spokesman, the operations targeted both international and domestic drug trafficking networks.
At Allama Iqbal International Airport, ANF recovered 19.66 kgs of ice soaked into clothes packed in the luggage of a male passenger and arrested four women suspects travelling to Saudi Arabia.
In another operation at the same airport, ANF seized 11.502 kgs of ice concealed in clothes packed in the luggage of a male and a female passenger bound for Saudi Arabia and apprehended both suspects.
ANF also recovered 108 ice-filled capsules weighing 580 grams from the abdomen of a male passenger and 70 heroin-filled capsules weighing 227 grams from a female passenger travelling to Saudi Arabia via Allama Iqbal International Airport.
At Multan International Airport, 84 heroin-filled capsules weighing 558 grams were recovered from the abdomen of a passenger travelling to Dubai, who was subsequently arrested.
In a separate operation at the cargo shed of Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, ANF recovered 650 grams of ice soaked into a buckram sheet concealed in a parcel destined for Saudi Arabia.
Under its domestic interdiction campaign, ANF seized 8.4 kgs of hashish from a rickshaw near Shabqadar in Charsadda district and arrested the suspect.
In another operation at a cargo shed in Sialkot, ANF recovered 1.2 kgs of hashish concealed inside a speaker and apprehended an individual involved in the smuggling attempt.
Cases have been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, while further investigations are underway.
