IGP visits Jhangi Check Post, orders immediate reconstruction after terror attack

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem on Thursday visited the Jhangi Check Post in Dera Ghazi Khan, inspected the site of the recent terrorist attack and expressed condolences to the families of the martyred police personnel.

LAHORE, Jun 18 (APP): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem on Thursday visited the Jhangi Check Post in Dera Ghazi Khan, inspected the site of the recent terrorist attack and expressed condolences to the families of the martyred police personnel.
During the visit, the IGP met the heirs of the martyrs, offered Fateha and prayed for the elevation of their ranks.
Paying tribute to the bravery, courage and professional commitment of the officers and personnel deployed at the check post, the IGP said Punjab Police were fully implementing the Safe Punjab vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and remained committed to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.
The IGP reviewed the damage caused to the Jhangi Check Post during the attack and ordered its immediate reconstruction and restoration. He directed the authorities concerned to strengthen the building, boundary wall and bunkers of the check post to effectively counter any future threats. He also ordered further tightening of security arrangements at check posts across the province and instructed officers to enhance surveillance, security measures and defensive capabilities.
Abdul Kareem directed the immediate release of martyr compensation packages to the families of the fallen personnel and ordered that the provision of houses to them be expedited on a priority basis.
The IGP also lauded the courage of the injured police personnel and distributed cash rewards among them in recognition of their services and sacrifices.
Speaking on the occasion, he said Punjab Police stood “like a steel wall” against Fitna Al-Hindustan and Fitna Al-Khawarij and were prepared to make every sacrifice for maintaining peace and protecting the public.
Additional IG South Punjab, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ghazi Khan, District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ghazi Khan, and senior officers of CTD, Special Branch, CCD and other relevant departments accompanied the IGP during the visit.
