BEIJING, Jun 18 (APP):The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing on Thursday organized two investment promotion events for Pakistan-China B2B Investment Confernce on Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology and Healthcare. These events were co-hosted with the China Overseas Development Association (CODA) and IBI Goulian Gufen designed to mobilize Chinese investors for the B2B Conference scheduled in Karachi on 17-18 July 2026.
The two events attracted nearly 60 leading Chinese enterprises, including over 40 companies led by CODA at the Embassy premises and 17 companies at the IBI event in Beijing’s Fengtai District. Participating companies represented a broad spectrum of sectors, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, vaccines, medical devices, diagnostics, healthcare services, digital health, clinical research, and related industries.
Addressing the participants, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Khalil Hashmi, highlighted the growing momentum in Pakistan-China economic cooperation noting that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0) is increasingly focused on promoting industrial cooperation, technology transfer, innovation, and value-added manufacturing, with pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and biotechnology as priority areas of collaboration.
The Ambassador informed participants that the Karachi conference forms part of the Embassy’s broader B2B investment mobilization initiative launched in 2024 to connect Chinese and Pakistani enterprises across 21 priority sectors. He noted that previous investment conferences and sector-specific engagements have generated substantial business partnerships, investment commitments, and joint ventures between enterprises from the two countries.
Highlighting Pakistan’s investment potential, Ambassador Hashmi stated that Pakistan’s pharmaceutical market exceeds USD 4 billion,  growing at 10–12 percent annually. He noted that pharmaceutical exports recorded 34 percent growth in FY2025 and emphasized the opportunities created by Pakistan’s large domestic market, strategic location, competitive production costs, WHO Maturity Level 3 certification, and investor facilitation mechanisms under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
The Ambassador invited Chinese enterprises to explore investment and partnership opportunities in seven priority pharmaceutical and healthcare sub-sectors, namely Generic APIs, Generic Injectables, Human Vaccines, Insulin, Veterinary Vaccines, Biologics & Biosimilars, and Medical Devices. He emphasized that Pakistan offers significant opportunities for localized manufacturing, technology transfer, export-oriented production, and integration into regional and global value chains.
At the IBI event, Ambassador Hashmi highlighted opportunities in biotechnology research and development, diagnostics, healthcare technologies, clinical research services, robotics-assisted medical solutions, stem-cell research, and traditional medicine products. He underscored the strong complementarities between Chinese technological capabilities and Pakistan’s growing industrial and healthcare ecosystem.
Participants were briefed on the conference programme, dedicated B2B matchmaking sessions, and planned site visits. Several companies expressed strong interest in participating in the conference and exploring partnerships with Pakistani counterparts.
The Pakistan–China B2B Pharmaceutical, Healthcare & Biotechnology Investment Conference is being organized by Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination in collaboration with the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and Pakistan’s Consulates General across China. The conference is expected to bring together leading enterprises, investors, regulators, and industry stakeholders from both countries to advance cooperation in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare services, vaccines, medical devices, diagnostics, and related sectors.
