PESHAWAR, Jun 18 (APP): In a tragic incident in Orakzai district on Thursday lightning strike killed three people and injured four others while they were busy in digging a grave for the burial of their relative.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Shaukat Ali, the incident took place in Mirobak village, within the jurisdiction of Kalaya Police Station.
He said local residents were digging a grave in preparation for a funeral when lightning struck the group.
He said that three people died on the spot, while four others sustained injuries.
Rescue teams immediately responded and shifted the injured to Kalaya Hospital for medical treatment.
The bodies of the deceased were also transported to the hospital following the rescue operation. Hospital authorities confirmed that the injured are receiving necessary medical care.
The tragic event has cast a shadow of grief over the area. Locals expressed sorrow and offered prayers for the departed souls and the speedy recovery of the injured.
