KARACHI, Jun 18 (APP): Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentary Leader in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Karamullah Waqasi, has welcomed the Sindh Government’s decision to allocate more than Rs 100.19 billion for Karachi in the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget, describing it as a historic development package that will open new avenues of progress, prosperity and urban transformation for the country’s largest city.
Karamullah Waqasi stated that the Sindh Government have once again demonstrated their unwavering commitment to the development and welfare of Karachi.
He said the substantial allocation for the city reflects the government’s determination to address longstanding civic challenges while accelerating the pace of development across all sectors.
He noted that the funds allocated for Karachi will significantly strengthen ongoing development activities and contribute towards improving transportation, water supply, sewerage systems, infrastructure and municipal services.
Waqasi said that a total of 816 development projects are currently underway in Karachi with a cumulative cost exceeding Rs 644 billion and 30 crore.
He further highlighted that 167 major projects each valued at over Rs 50 crore and 110 mega projects costing more than Rs 1 billion are currently in progress. These initiatives, he said, will play a vital role in modernizing Karachi and equipping it with world-class urban facilities.
Karamullah Waqasi expressed confidence that the Sindh Government, local government institutions and all relevant departments will work in close coordination to ensure the timely completion of these development projects so that the people of Karachi can benefit from their outcomes at the earliest opportunity.`
