Two food production units sealed over violations in Lodhran

MULTAN, Jun 18 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) intensified its crackdown on food businesses violating safety and hygiene standards and shut down a bakery and a spice grinding unit in Lodhran during a special inspection drive conducted on the directives of Director General Punjab Food Authority Syed Musa Raza.
According to a PFA spokesperson, food safety teams inspected two food production units located on the Dhanote-Kahror Pacca Main road and Dunyapur-Dokota road.
During the inspection of a bakery, officials discovered dead insects in sweets, prompting immediate closure of the unit till improvement.
In another operation, a spice grinding unit was ordered to halt production after the team found a washroom situated within the production area.
The unit was also found involved in counterfeit branding by marketing products under the names of well-known commercial brands.
Speaking on the occasion, DG PFA Syed Musa Raza, said that negligence in food preparation, processing and distribution would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He also urged citizen to inform about any complaints and violations through the Punjab Food Authority’s helpline 1223.
