GIMS’s free healthcare model a ‘beacon of hope’, says Director Dr Raheem Bux Bhatti

SUKKUR, Jun 18 (APP):Director of Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Dr Raheem Bux Bhatti on Thursday has expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah for acknowledging GIMS Hospital Gambat and its team in the Sindh Assembly.
Calling the tribute “not for me as an individual, but for every doctor, nurse, technician, and worker at GIMS,” Dr Bhatti said the recognition honoured 45 years of service based on the belief that adding that healthcare is a right, not a privilege.
He said that GIMS hospital was built on one principle, No patient should be denied treatment because they cannot afford it,’ he stated. He added that the hospital remains committed to that mission through Pakistan’s largest free Lung Transplant Centre, a Kidney Centre providing free dialysis and transplants, the Gambat Burn Centre, and treatment for 2.97 million patients to date.
Reflecting on GIMS’ journey, Dr Bhatti said the path was never easy. “We faced challenges of resources, infrastructure, and skepticism. But the faith of the people of Sindh and the support of the Sindh Government gave us strength,” he said.
He reiterated the institute’s mission to make advanced, free medical care accessible to the poorest patient from Tharparkar to Kashmore and Balochistan to Punjab.
Dr Bhatti thanked the Chief Minister for his words of encouragement, the GIMS family for their dedication and the people for their trust. For us, service to humanity remains the highest form of worship. We will keep working to ensure that GIMS stays a beacon of hope for generations to come,
