PESHAWAR, Jun 18 (APP):A police constable was martyred after unidentified armed assailants opened fire at Badwan Bridge in Chakdara tehsil of Lower Dir district on Thursday.
According to police, Constable Muhammad Ismail sustained critical injuries in the attack and was immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries and embraced martyrdom.
The body of the martyred constable was later transferred to the Police Lines in Timergara, where a smartly turned-out police contingent paid tribute with an official guard of honor.
The funeral ceremony was attended by District Police Officer (DPO) Furqan Bilal and Deputy Commissioner Basharat Ahmad, along with senior officials. The martyr was laid to rest with full state honors.
Speaking on the occasion, police officers reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and security, stating that the sacrifices of police personnel would not go in vain.
Police said that the firing was carried out suddenly by unidentified armed individuals. An investigation has been launched to trace and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
