ATTOCK, Jun 17 (APP): A mourning procession was held in Attock City on the occasion of 1st Muharram-ul-Haram, where religious scholars and speakers paid tribute to the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his companions, describing their stand at Karbala as an enduring symbol of patience, courage, sacrifice, and resistance against oppression. Addressing participants, the speakers said the message of Karbala continues to inspire people across generations to uphold truth, justice, and moral values.
The scholars emphasized that the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S.) was not merely a historical event but a timeless lesson for humanity. They urged the faithful to draw inspiration from his teachings and incorporate the principles of selflessness, steadfastness, and devotion to righteousness into their daily lives. The speakers noted that the sacrifices rendered at Karbala remain unparalleled in Islamic history and continue to serve as a beacon of guidance for the Muslim Ummah.
Later, a mourning procession commenced from the residence of late Tehseen-ul-Hasan Zaidi in K-Block and passed through its traditional route before concluding at Imambargah Hussainia in Attock Cantonment. A large number of mourners participated in the procession, which was conducted peacefully amid an atmosphere of reverence and devotion.
Attock Police implemented comprehensive security measures to ensure the safety of participants. Security personnel were deployed along the procession route and at strategic rooftop positions, while senior police and administrative officials remained present to supervise arrangements. Public facilitation measures were also put in place, including the establishment of cold-water stalls along the route to provide relief to mourners amid the summer heat.
