QUETTA, Jun 17 (APP):The Balochistan provincial cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has unanimously approved the proposed budget documents for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27.
The decision came during a high-level meeting attended by provincial ministers, the Chief Secretary, administrative secretaries, and senior officials.
The cabinet was briefed on the budget’s key features, including development priorities, fiscal discipline, revenue generation, and welfare initiatives. The total budget outlay for the year has been set at Rs. 1089 billion, with Rs. 797 billion allocated for non-development expenditures and Rs. 206 billion earmarked for the Provincial Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).
Of the PSDP allocation, Rs. 106 billion will fund new development schemes, while Rs. 100 billion has been reserved for the completion of ongoing projects. In addition, Rs. 45 billion from federally funded projects and Rs. 40 billion under foreign project assistance will supplement provincial development efforts. These resources are expected to strengthen infrastructure, education, healthcare, water supply, communications, agriculture, and energy sectors.
The cabinet was also informed that provincial revenue targets have been set at Rs. 170 billion, reflecting significant growth compared to previous years. Reforms in the taxation system, improved fiscal discipline, and efficient resource utilization are planned to achieve this goal.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti described the budget as balanced, realistic, and people-friendly, emphasizing that despite limited resources, the government has prioritized welfare, sustainable development, job creation, and improved basic services.
He highlighted health, education, clean drinking water, infrastructure, and employment as top priorities in the development program.
The cabinet concluded the meeting by reaffirming its commitment to utilize all available resources for the province’s progress and prosperity. Officials expressed confidence that the FY 2026-27 budget aligns with Balochistan’s developmental needs, public expectations, and economic stability, marking a significant step toward sustainable growth.
