DPO finalizes Muharram security arrangements

SIALKOT,Jun 17 (APP):District Police Officer (DPO) Captain (Retd.) Dost Muhammad on Wednesday finalized security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram with more than 2,000 police personnel to be deployed across the district to ensure the peaceful observance of religious events.
According to a police spokesperson, traffic wardens will also perform duties at key locations to maintain smooth traffic flow during majalis and mourning processions.
The DPO said female police officers would be deployed for security and traffic management duties during Muharram while volunteers would assist police in maintaining security arrangements.
He said foolproof security would be provided to 303 mourning processions and 1,210 majalis scheduled across the district from the 1st to the 10th of Muharram.
Captain (Retd.) Dost Muhammad said strict implementation of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and code of conduct issued by the Punjab government would be ensured to maintain law and order during the holy month.
He added that all necessary measures had been taken to safeguard participants and ensure a peaceful atmosphere during Muharram observances.
