2,404 Majalis,659 Muharram processions to be held under comprehensive security plan

SARGODHA, Jun 17 (APP):The district administration on Wednesday finalized comprehensive security and administrative arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram with 2,404 majalis and 659 mourning processions scheduled across the district during the first ten days of the Islamic month.
Deputy Commissioner(DC),Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry said all necessary measures had been completed to ensure the peaceful observance of religious events.
According to an official spokesperson,166 majalis have been placed in Category A, 117 in Category B and 2,121 in Category C.
Among the mourning processions, 95 have been categorized as Category A, 92 as Category B and 471 as Category C.
The DC said audio and video recording of all Category A majalis and processions would be conducted, while sensitive locations would remain under strict surveillance through a modern security monitoring system.
As part of the security plan, 380 CCTV cameras have been installed along procession routes and at key locations across the district.
A central control room has also been established at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and will remain operational round the clock throughout Muharram to monitor security arrangements and coordinate response efforts.
To maintain law and order,entry restrictions have been imposed on 49 religious speakers and zakireen, while strict implementation of the Muharram code of conduct was being ensured.
The DC said 2,654 officials and personnel from various departments would perform duties during Muharram.
These include 320 Civil Defense volunteers,1,250 staff members from WASA,Suthra Punjab and the Municipal Corporation, 55 officials from WAPDA, 20 PTCL employees,499 Rescue 1122 personnel,415 health department staff and 95 employees from other departments.
He added that the district administration,police and all relevant agencies were working in close coordination to maintain peace,religious harmony and public safety, while ensuring maximum facilities for mourners during Muharram observances.
