KOHAT, Jun 17 (APP):The police killed three suspected militants in a shootout in on Tuesday, while the authorities also stepped up efforts to resolve community disputes and investigate a separate deadly shooting.
According to police sources, the security forces exchanged heavy fire with armed militants in the Lachi area of the district.
Three suspected terrorists were killed during the operation, and additional police contingents were deployed to secure the area.
A search operation was launched to track down any remaining suspects and ensure public safety, the sources said.
In a separate development, the District Resolution Council (DRC), acting on the instructions of Kohat District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Shahbaz Elahi, successfully mediated a financial dispute of Rs 800,000 .
The dispute had been referred to the DRC following a formal request from the parties involved. After several rounds of dialogue and reconciliation, both sides agreed to an amicable settlement, the police added.
Meanwhile, the police were also investigating a shooting at Peshawar Chowk in which one person was killed and another injured.
DPO Dr. Shahbaz Elahi visited the scene, ordered the collection of evidence, and instructed officers to arrest the responsible as quickly as possible. The injured victim was transferred to a hospital.
