Punjab allocates Rs2b for Home Dept in FY2026-27

LAHORE, Jun 16 (APP): The Punjab government has earmarked Rs 2 billion for the Home Department in the provincial budget for fiscal year 2026–27.
According to budget documents released on Tuesday, Rs 1.29 billion has been allocated for 79 ongoing development schemes. Of this amount, Rs 30 million has been set aside for the construction of an Inter-Provincial Joint Check Post (IPJCP) at Taunsa Barrage in District Kot Addu, while Rs 50 million has been allocated for another IPJCP at Ghazi Ghat in District Dera Ghazi Khan.
For new schemes, the government has allocated Rs 705 million. Under the Chief Minister’s initiatives, Rs 300 million each has been earmarked for the establishment of hostel facilities for women scientists at PAFDA and PFSA, and for the establishment of Crime Scene Units (CSUs) of PFSA in 28 districts.
For the Home Department, Rs 50 million has been allocated for funding facilities for unfunded schemes, Rs 20 million for the replacement of the HVAC system at PFSA, and Rs 15 million for the establishment of an AI Hub at PIFTAC.
For the jail sector, Rs 20 million has been allocated for the solarisation of prisons across Punjab.
The allocation focuses on strengthening security infrastructure, improving law enforcement facilities, upgrading forensic capabilities and enhancing facilities in prisons across the province.
