RAWALPINDI, Jun 16 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema on Tuesday visited the Raja Bazaar Beautification Project and reviewed the ongoing development and renovation work in detail.
Inspecting various sites, the DC reviewed the pace, quality and stages of completion of the work and directed the relevant officers to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high standards.
He said Raja Bazaar, a historic and one of the oldest commercial centres of Rawalpindi, was being redeveloped in line with modern urban requirements to provide better facilities to citizens and traders.
Dr Cheema said measures were being taken to enhance the market’s appearance, improve the sanitation system, ensure smooth traffic flow, facilitate pedestrians and further improve the urban environment.
He said that, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, major commercial centres of the city were being developed on modern lines so that citizens could benefit from a clean, safe and well-equipped environment.
The DC directed the concerned to ensure that traders and the public faced minimal inconvenience during construction activities.
He added that the modern redevelopment and beautification of Raja Bazaar would not only enhance the area’s appearance but also contribute to sustainable solutions to traffic, sanitation and other urban issues.
Assistant Commissioner City Iman Zafar and the concerned departments’ officials associated with the project accompanied him during the visit.
