Rs 74.1b allocated for C&W in FY2026-27

The Punjab government has allocated Rs 74.1 billion to the Communication and Works (C&W) sector for the fiscal year 2026–27, with a primary focus on the rehabilitation of provincial roads and infrastructure across the province.

LAHORE, Jun 16 (APP): The Punjab government has allocated Rs 74.1 billion to the Communication and Works (C&W) sector for the fiscal year 2026–27, with a primary focus on the rehabilitation of provincial roads and infrastructure across the province.
According to official budget documents released on Tuesday, the allocation will support 1,260 development projects, including 1,218 ongoing schemes and 42 new initiatives.
Among the new projects, Rs 28 billion has been earmarked for the Chief Minister’s Priority Roads Improvement Programme. Another Rs 10 billion has been allocated for the Integrated Road Infrastructure Improvement Programme, while Rs 724.9 million has been set aside for the Katcha Area Development Programme.
For ongoing schemes, Rs 300 million has been allocated for the reconstruction of Punjab House, Rawalpindi; Rs 303 million for the widening, improvement, reconstruction and construction of the road from Makhanpur to Kalanwali via Qazi Paharang, Daulatpur, Haibatpur and Naushera Kakk-E-Zaiaan in Sialkot; and Rs 335 million for the umbrella PC-I covering land acquisition, compensation for structures and PST related to PSDP-funded schemes.
The government has also earmarked Rs 400 million for the rehabilitation of the Rawalpindi–Murree–Kashmir Road, Rs 400 million for the rehabilitation of the Gujrat–Sargodha Road and Rs 401 million for the rehabilitation of the Jhang–Toba Tek Singh–Chichawatni–Burewala Road.
The budget documents further outlined continued funding for several major infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and supporting regional development. These include the construction and widening of the road from 8-RD to Chak Basawa Bridge, the route connecting Chak Basawa Bridge to the District Complex along the Sohawa Distributory, and the road from the District Complex to Kakuwal Bridge along the Gujrat Branch, which includes a new flyover. Additional funding will support the construction of a road from Kakuwal Bridge to Kuthyala Syedan via the Bahauddin Kot Baloach Drain, as well as a railway flyover in Mandi Bahauddin.
The allocation reflects the provincial government’s emphasis on upgrading transport infrastructure, improving road safety and enhancing connectivity between urban centres and rural areas.
