Rs 12.88bn earmarked for Police, Safe Cities projects in FY2026-27

The Punjab government has earmarked Rs 12.88 billion for the Police Department, Chief Minister’s Safe Cities initiatives and the Katcha Area Development Programme in the provincial budget for fiscal year 2026-27.

LAHORE, Jun 16 (APP): The Punjab government has earmarked Rs 12.88 billion for the Police Department, Chief Minister’s Safe Cities initiatives and the Katcha Area Development Programme in the provincial budget for fiscal year 2026-27.
According to budget documents released on Tuesday, Rs 9.78 billion has been allocated for ongoing schemes. Of this, Rs 8.02 billion has been earmarked for the Smart Safe Cities project in tehsils across the divisions of Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Gujrat and Rawalpindi.
A further Rs 1.75 billion has been allocated for various ongoing police schemes, including modernisation of policing systems, computerisation of police stations across Punjab, construction of the CTD district office in Narowal and other development projects.
For new schemes, the government has allocated Rs 3.1 billion. Under the Chief Minister’s initiatives, Rs 600 million each has been earmarked for Safe City projects in the Katcha areas of Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur, as well as for the expansion of IPNV sites in Lahore.
Under the Katcha Area Development Programme, Rs 450 million has been allocated for the construction and upgradation of police posts, police stations and pickets in riverine areas.
The budget also includes Rs 500 million for infrastructure development of offices of the Police Department, CTD, Special Branch, Elite Police Force, Punjab Highway Patrol, PC and Riot Management Police across the province.
In addition, Rs 100 million has been earmarked for unfunded police schemes, Rs 50 million for the establishment of the headquarters of the Crime Control Department (CCD) at Qurban Lines Lahore, Rs 300 million for rehabilitation of residential infrastructure of the Police Department, Rs 250 million for rehabilitation of police lines and training centres, Rs 200 million for construction of police stations and police posts, and Rs 50 million for the establishment of regional offices of the CCD across Punjab.
