LAHORE, Jun 16 (APP): The Punjab government has allocated Rs 10 billion for “Kissan Card Programme” to facilitate the farmers in buying pesticides, seeds, and other agricultural tools.
In the first year, 825,000 farmers received interest-free loans worth Rs. 251 billion, with a recovery rate 99 percent.
Addressing food security, Punjab Minister for Finance Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman highlighted the Green Tractor Program, under which 19,200 farmers were given high power tractors at a cost of Rs 14.6 billion during the current fiscal year while during next phase of the programme 10,000 low power tractors and 6,500 high powers tractors would be provided to farmers at a cost of Rs 16.9 billion.
