CTPL launches free medical fitness certificate facility for driving licence applicants

LAHORE, Jun 16 (APP): City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) has launched a free medical fitness certificate facility for driving licence applicants at designated government hospitals across the city.
Addressing the media, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi said citizens could now receive free medical fitness certificates from government hospitals, reducing financial burden and simplifying the driving licence issuance process.
He said that in the first phase, dedicated medical fitness certificate counters had been established at 13 government hospitals in Lahore, including DHQ Mian Mir Hospital, DHQ Mozang Hospital, General Hospital Ghaziabad, THQ Hospital Sabzazar, Government Hospital Samanabad, Government General Hospital Qila Gujar Singh, Government General Hospital Shahdara, THQ Hospital Bilal Ganj, Government Hospital Sodiwal, THQ Hospital Kahna, THQ Hospital Raiwind, Government Eye and General Hospital Swami Nagar and Shalimar.
Shirazi said medical fitness certificates were mandatory for obtaining commercial driving licences and for applicants above 50 years of age.
He said CTPL was also introducing a digital verification system to curb the use of fake medical certificates and further strengthen transparency in the licensing process.
The CTO said a proposal had been prepared in the second phase to integrate the Driving Licence Issuance Management System (DLIMS) with the online system of the Health Department.
He said that direct uploading of medical fitness certificates to the Health Department’s portal would help eliminate fraudulent documents and make the verification process more efficient and reliable.
The CTO added that real-time data sharing between Traffic Police and the Health Department would enhance transparency, accountability and public trust while reducing opportunities for corruption and malpractice.
