A girl went missing after falling into Adil Canal near Basti Dhol Wala in the Usman Koria area on the outskirts of Muzaffargarh on Tuesday,rescue officials said.

MUZAFFARGARH, Jun 16 (APP):A girl went missing after falling into Adil Canal near Basti Dhol Wala in the Usman Koria area on the outskirts of Muzaffargarh on Tuesday,rescue officials said.

According to eyewitnesses,the child,identified as Shahzadi(1.5) was sitting on the canal bank when she slipped into the water and was swept away by the current.

Rescue 1122 teams reached the site soon after being alerted and launched a search operation.

Officials said rescuers employed the line search technique and combed a three-kilometer stretch of the canal during the initial phase of the operation.

Despite continued efforts,the child could not be traced till the filing of this report.

Further investigation was underway.
