Free-of-cost FDE Summer Schools & Fiesta wins hearts of students, parents and school heads in capital

As summer holidays settle in and the silence of closed classrooms spreads, students and parents across the capital have lauded the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Summer Schools and Fiesta, a free-of-cost two-week initiative that breathes life into public school campuses through learning, creativity and recreation.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 16 (APP):As summer holidays settle in and the silence of closed classrooms spreads, students and parents across the capital have lauded the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Summer Schools and Fiesta, a free-of-cost two-week initiative that breathes life into public school campuses through learning, creativity and recreation.
The initiative offers a diverse range of activities, including STEM & Robotics, Tech Boot camp, Drawing and Painting, Career & professional development, skill-based workshops, creative arts, sports, self-grooming, self-defence, cooking and interactive learning sessions designed to engage students beyond the traditional classroom
setting.
Organized across multiple model public schools in Islamabad, the program aims to build confidence, creativity and practical skills while providing students with a safe and productive way to spend their summer holidays.
Parents with media conversation have widely appreciated the initiative, strongly admiring its free-of-cost structure and the provision of free transport, calling it a thoughtful and student-friendly step during the summer holidays.
They lauded this government program for making quality learning and skill-building accessible to all, especially students from different backgrounds and expressed satisfaction over the safe, engaging and well-organized environment provided through the Summer Schools & Fiesta.
Students, including those from private schools are also enthusiastically participating in the program, expressing their excitement about learning new skills in a dynamic environment.
One student shared that they are “enthusiastically coming to learn different skills,” while another said, “self-grooming is my favorite activity,” highlighting its importance for personal development.
A third student remarked that “arts and drawing sessions are the most enjoyable part,” reflecting the program’s strong appeal in nurturing creativity and hands-on learning among participants.
The students further appealed for more such opportunities in the future, saying initiatives like these should be expanded to benefit a larger number of learners.
One parent, a mother of a participant, remarked that while many private institutes and summer camps are “minting money,” the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) initiative stands out as the best, offering quality learning opportunities completely free of cost and in a well-organized manner for students during the summer holidays.
Director Academics and QA at the Federal Directorate of Education, Ms. Riffat Jabeen said that the Summer Schools and Fiesta is a well-planned initiative aimed at providing students with meaningful, skill-based and engaging learning opportunities during the summer holidays, adding that the program is designed to promote creativity, confidence, and practical skills among students in a safe and supportive environment.
Principal of IMCG F-10/2, Fatima Mubeen, expressed great satisfaction over the initiative and highly appreciated the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) for organizing such a meaningful program.
She said that around 300 to 400 girls were actively engaged in a variety of skill-based and creative activities under the supervision of trained teachers, adding that the initiative was providing students with a constructive, safe and enriching environment during the summer holidays and was playing an important role in their overall development.
