The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Monday reaffirmed its commitment to preventing the spread of dengue and ensuring a clean, healthy and safe environment for the residents of the city on the occasion of World Dengue Day 2026.

RAWALPINDI, Jun 15 (APP): The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Monday reaffirmed its commitment to preventing the spread of dengue and ensuring a clean, healthy and safe environment for the residents of the city on the occasion of World Dengue Day 2026.
Acting on the directions of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division and Director General RDA, Engr. Aamir Khattak, the authority, has been actively participating in anti-dengue awareness and enforcement activities across its jurisdiction.
This year’s World Dengue Day theme, “Small Bite, Big Threat – Stop Dengue, Save Lives,” underscores the importance of collective efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and prevent dengue outbreaks.
According to an RDA spokesman, field teams have been directed to maintain strict surveillance of under-construction buildings and vacant plots to prevent the accumulation of stagnant water that could serve as breeding grounds for dengue mosquitoes.
He said the authority was conducting regular inspections and taking legal action against those found violating dengue prevention regulations.
As part of the enforcement campaign, RDA has also been sealing buildings and premises where repeated violations of anti-dengue measures have been detected.
The spokesman urged builders, property owners and residents to keep their surroundings clean and free from stagnant water to help curb the spread of the disease.
Citizens were advised to cover water storage containers, remove standing water from rooftops, courtyards and drains, use mosquito nets and repellents, and adopt all necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families from dengue.
He said dengue was a preventable disease and that community participation remained essential for its eradication.
He urged all stakeholders to cooperate with government departments and adopt preventive measures to help make Rawalpindi a dengue-free city.
The RDA reiterated its resolve to enforce anti-dengue regulations and promote public awareness to safeguard the health and well-being of citizens.
