17 killed, 1,558 injured in Punjab road accidents

At least 17 people were killed and 1,558 others injured in 1,326 road traffic crashes reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to the Emergency Services Department (ESD).

LAHORE, Jun 15 (APP): At least 17 people were killed and 1,558 others injured in 1,326 road traffic crashes reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to the Emergency Services Department (ESD).
A Rescue 1122 spokesperson said on Monday that of the total injured, 742 with serious injuries were shifted to various hospitals, while 816 victims with minor injuries were provided first aid at the scene by rescue medical teams.
The analysis showed that 891 drivers, 90 underage drivers, 144 pedestrians and 540 passengers were among the victims of the accidents.
Lahore recorded the highest number of road traffic crashes with 233 incidents affecting 285 people, followed by Multan with 88 accidents involving 101 victims and Faisalabad with 83 accidents affecting 94 people.
According to Rescue 1122 data, the accidents involved 1,445 motorcycles, 71 auto-rickshaws, 164 cars, 29 vans, 11 passenger buses, 38 trucks and 73 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts.
The spokesperson urged road users to strictly follow traffic regulations and safety measures to help reduce road accidents and save precious lives.
