RAWALPINDI, Jun 15 (APP):The Horticulture Agency (HAR)Rawalpindi has intensified efforts to enhance the beauty, cleanliness and maintenance of Rawal Park, alongside improving plant growth and development in the nursery attached to the facility to provide citizens with a healthy, green and aesthetically pleasing environment.
Acting on the directives of Managing Director HAR Rawalpindi Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, seasonal and ornamental plants were being maintained in Rawal Park in accordance with modern horticultural practices.
According to the HAR spokesperson, the cultivation of colourful flowers and decorative plants along entrances, exits, walking tracks, green belts and recreational areas has further enhanced the park’s attractiveness.
Regular grass cutting, pruning of trees, efficient irrigation arrangements and improved cleanliness standards were being ensured throughout the park, he said, adding maintenance of seating areas and other public facilities was also being carried out to provide visitors with a comfortable and pleasant recreational environment.
He said modern horticultural techniques were similarly being employed in the nursery attached to Rawal Park to encourage healthy plant growth.
Various species of flowering, shade-giving, fruit-bearing and ornamental plants were also being cultivated to meet the requirements of plantation campaigns and green belts across the city.
Under the supervision of horticulture experts, plants were being provided with quality fertilisers, proper irrigation and care in accordance with seasonal requirements.
He added that special emphasis was being placed on propagating plant species suited to the local climate so that they can thrive in urban environments and contribute to reducing environmental pollution.
To achieve this objective, the production and cultivation of different varieties of trees and plants have been accelerated.
The HAR was also engaging educational institutions, social organisations and community representatives in plantation campaigns to encourage greater public participation in efforts to create a greener, more environmentally sustainable Pakistan.
The spokesperson said Rawal Park was one of the city’s most important recreational and environmental assets and that all available resources were being utilised to preserve and enhance its beauty and greenery.
He said that, alongside providing quality recreational facilities to residents, the agency remained fully committed to environmental protection and the beautification of the city.
