Drug trafficker handed 20-year jail term, Rs225,000 fine in Attock narcotics case

ATTOCK, Jun 15 (APP):An Attock court on Monday awarded a drug trafficker a cumulative 20-year rigorous imprisonment sentence along with a fine of Rs225,000 after finding him guilty in a narcotics case that stemmed from a comprehensive police investigation.
According to police officials, Hazro Police arrested the accused, Yasir Khan, in 2025 and recovered 1,500 grams of hashish (charas) and 520 grams of heroin from his possession. Following the recovery, a case was registered against him under the relevant provisions of the narcotics laws.
The judgment was announced by Additional Sessions Judge Attock, Nadeem Ahmad Sohail Cheema, in Case No. 53/2025. The court sentenced the convict to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for possession of charas and an additional 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for possession of heroin.
Besides the prison terms, the court imposed a total fine of Rs225,000 on the convict. Police authorities welcomed the verdict, terming it a reflection of the effectiveness of evidence-based investigations and the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combating drug trafficking and protecting society from the menace of narcotics.
