Chiniot Police arrest 19 suspects in 24-hour crackdown on crime, drugs and traffic violations

Acting on the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and directives of District Police Officer Dr. Naveed Atif, Chiniot Police on Monday intensified its crackdown against criminal elements, arresting 19 suspects in various operations conducted across the district during the last 24 hours.

CHINIOT, Jun 15 (APP): Acting on the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and directives of District Police Officer Dr. Naveed Atif, Chiniot Police on Monday intensified its crackdown against criminal elements, arresting 19 suspects in various operations conducted across the district during the last 24 hours.
According to police officials, one suspect was arrested during an operation against criminal promoters, while two alleged drug dealers were apprehended and more than one kilogram of hashish was recovered from their possession. In a separate campaign against professional begging, police arrested nine beggars, while seven other suspects were taken into custody on charges related to illegal weapons, reckless driving and over-speeding.
Police also carried out extensive checking through the Police Post App, screening 378 suspicious individuals and 602 suspicious vehicles. As part of ongoing efforts to enforce traffic regulations, more than 270 vehicles were challaned for various violations, resulting in fines exceeding Rs500,000.
Speaking on the occasion, DPO Dr. Naveed Atif , while exclusively talking to APP, said practical measures were being taken to safeguard the lives and property of citizens. He said police were utilizing both human resources and modern technology to track and arrest individuals involved in criminal activities, adding that all available resources would continue to be employed to maintain law and order and ensure public safety. He urged citizens to immediately report the presence of criminal elements in their areas to the nearest police station or through the Police Helpline 15.
