ISLAMABAD, Jun 15 (APP): Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Monday, welcomed the recent diplomatic progress between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, expressing hope that sustained dialogue and engagement between the two countries will lead to greater regional peace, global stability, and economic prosperity.
The Chairman Senate stated that amid evolving geopolitical challenges and regional tensions, diplomacy remains the most effective and sustainable path toward resolving disputes and building lasting peace.
He observed that meaningful engagement between Iran and the United States could help reduce tensions, promote confidence-building, and contribute to a more secure and stable regional environment.
Gilani reaffirmed Pakistan’s longstanding position that disputes should be resolved through dialogue, mutual respect, adherence to international law, and peaceful means. He noted that Pakistan has consistently advocated diplomatic engagement over confrontation and supported all efforts aimed at regional stability, peaceful coexistence, and international cooperation.
The Chairman Senate highlighted Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and dialogue among nations. He stated that under political wisdom and farsightedness of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Deputy PM/ Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and the strategic foresight of the Pakistan Armed Forces especially the efforts of Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan continues to pursue a balanced and principled foreign policy focused on regional stability, de-escalation, and cooperation.
The Chairman Senate also appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders working to advance diplomatic solutions and confidence-building measures.
He expressed hope that wisdom, restraint, and statesmanship would continue to guide the process, enabling all parties to address differences through constructive engagement and mutual understanding.
