MULTAN, Jun 15 (APP): Two proclaimed offenders involved in theft and robbery cases were arrested after a police encounter near Hassan Hussain Chowk in New Shah Shams Colony here late Sunday night.
Police said on Monday that a patrol team signaled three suspicious motorcycle riders to stop during checking but they tried to flee and opened fire. Police returned fire in self-defense.
After the exchange of fire, two suspects were found injured with bullet wounds to their legs, allegedly caused by their own accomplice. A 30-bore pistol was recovered.
The arrested suspects were identified as Muhammad Fahad r/o Mohallah Neelgaran and Muhammad Rehan of Delhi Gate area. Their third accomplice managed to escape and a search operation was launched for his arrest.
Police said both injured suspects were proclaimed offenders, wanted in multiple theft and robbery cases. They were shifted to Nishtar Hospital for medical treatment while further investigation is underway.
