China welcomes US-Iran agreement, appreciates Pakistan’s mediation efforts

BEIJING, June 15 (APP):China on Monday welcomed the agreement reached between the United States and Iran on the content of a first-phase memorandum of understanding and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between the two sides.
Responding to a question during a regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said China views the development positively and hopes that both countries will sign the first-phase memorandum of understanding as scheduled.
The spokesperson was asked to comment on an announcement made earlier in the day by Pakistan’s Prime Minister that the United States and Iran had reached an agreement through negotiations and declared an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations across all regions, including Lebanon. The agreement was subsequently confirmed by official channels in both Washington and Tehran.
“China welcomes the agreement reached by the United States and Iran on the content of the first-phase memorandum of understanding and appreciates Pakistan’s mediation efforts,” Lin said.
He stressed that China hopes all parties concerned will remain committed to the path of peace and address their differences through dialogue and negotiation.
Lin further reiterated China’s support for diplomatic solutions to regional disputes and underscored the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East and the Gulf region.
“China is willing to continue playing a constructive role together with the international community to facilitate the early restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East and the Gulf region,” he added.
China has consistently advocated political dialogue and peaceful negotiations as the most effective means of resolving conflicts and reducing tensions in the region. The latest agreement between the United States and Iran is widely viewed as a positive step toward easing regional tensions and creating conditions for broader stability.
