Rickshaw drivers can obtain learner’s licences every Sunday at Manawan centre

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi has announced a special Sunday licensing facility for rickshaw drivers as part of an initiative aimed at facilitating drivers and promoting compliance with traffic laws.

LAHORE, Jun 14 (APP): Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi has announced a special Sunday licensing facility for rickshaw drivers as part of an initiative aimed at facilitating drivers and promoting compliance with traffic laws.
According to a spokesperson for City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL), rickshaw drivers will now be able to apply for driving licences every Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Manawan Licensing Centre, where special arrangements have been made to streamline the process and address difficulties faced by drivers in obtaining licences.
Speaking about the initiative, the CTO said road safety and traffic discipline could only be improved when drivers possess adequate knowledge of traffic regulations, road safety measures and responsible driving practices.
He said CTPL had therefore introduced a dedicated facility for rickshaw drivers to encourage them to become licensed drivers and to ensure their integration into the legal framework governing road transport.
Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said special awareness lectures and training sessions were also being organized for rickshaw drivers to enhance their professional skills, improve their understanding of traffic rules and promote safe driving behaviour.
He emphasized that licensed and well-trained drivers form the foundation of a safe and efficient traffic system. Ensuring that rickshaw drivers are properly trained and licensed would help reduce traffic violations, prevent road accidents and provide safer commuting facilities to citizens, he added.
The CTO further informed that rickshaw drivers would become eligible to obtain a permanent driving licence after completing 42 days from the issuance of their learner’s licence, in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
He said CTPL remained committed to introducing practical and citizen-friendly initiatives aimed at improving public service delivery, facilitating drivers and enhancing overall road safety standards in the provincial capital.
Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi urged rickshaw drivers to take advantage of the special Sunday facility, obtain valid driving licences and contribute to the creation of a safer and more disciplined traffic environment in Lahore
