RPO reaffirms foolproof security arrangements for Muharram in DI Khan, Tank

Dera Ismail Khan , Jun 14 (APP):Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ghulam Mubashir Maken, along with District Police Officer (DPO) DIKhan, Ziauddin Ahmed, has underscored that maintaining law and order and ensuring sectarian harmony during Muharram remain the top priority of law enforcement agencies in the Dera Ismail Khan region.
According to the police spokesman, the senior police officers conducted an extensive field visit to several Imambargahs, including Imambargah Chah Syed Munawar Shah, Ustrana, and Kotli Imam Hussain areas, to review security arrangements ahead of Muharram-ul-Haram.
During the visit, the RPO and DPO inspected entry and exit points, congregation halls, and designated procession routes. They also held detailed consultations with Imambargah administrators, custodians, and local community representatives regarding the schedule of religious gatherings (majalis) and processions, as well as the associated security requirements.
Police officials briefed the visiting officers on the proposed security plan, deployment of personnel, and coordination mechanisms with relevant stakeholders. The RPO directed that foolproof security arrangements be ensured, particularly along procession routes and sensitive locations, stressing that the protection of participants in religious gatherings would remain a foremost responsibility.
He further instructed field officers to strengthen coordination with district administration officials, peace committees, religious scholars, and community leaders to maintain an atmosphere of mutual respect and interfaith harmony throughout the holy month.
In a separate development, RPO Ghulam Mubashir Maken chaired a video-link meeting with police officials of District Tank to finalize Muharram security arrangements. The meeting was attended by DPO Tank Abdul Samad, SP Investigation, SDPOs, DSP Headquarters, sector and sub-sector commanders, SHOs, and officials from Special Branch, DSB, and the Command and Control Center.
The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation in District Tank, potential security threats, and detailed arrangements for majalis and processions, including traffic management and emergency response mechanisms.
DPO Tank briefed the RPO on manpower deployment and the implementation of the security plan. The RPO directed authorities to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against hate speech, incitement, and sectarian provocation, warning that strict legal action would be taken against elements attempting to disturb peace.
He also ordered intensified search and strike operations, intelligence-based actions, snap checking, and establishment of additional checkpoints. The use of CCTV surveillance and modern monitoring technologies was emphasized to ensure real-time oversight of processions and gatherings.
In another supervisory visit, RPO Ghulam Mubashir Maken, accompanied by DPO Ziauddin Ahmed, conducted an unannounced inspection of City Police Station Dera Ismail Khan.
During the visit, the officers reviewed the station’s security arrangements, administrative performance, record-keeping system, and infrastructure conditions. They inspected entry and exit points and assessed overall defensive preparedness.
The RPO examined official records, including daily logs and case files, directing officers to ensure that all documentation remains complete, accurate, and updated. He also reviewed personnel deployment and duty schedules, emphasizing timely delivery of justice and public service on merit.
Addressing police personnel, the RPO stated that police stations remain the fundamental unit of law enforcement, and their strengthening is essential for improving public trust in the police force. He urged officers to maintain discipline, transparency, and a citizen-friendly approach in the discharge of their duties.
Concluding his engagements, RPO Maken reiterated that all available resources would be utilized to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram, protection of citizens, and enforcement of the rule of law. He added that no effort to disturb peace would be tolerated under any circumstances.
Authorities said continuous monitoring, field inspections, and inter-agency coordination are being maintained across Dera Ismail Khan and Tank districts to ensure security and promote religious harmony during the holy month.
