ICT Police arrest over 10,000 suspects, recover Rs633 million stolen property in five months

ISLAMABAD, Jun 13 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested 10,286 suspects involved in various criminal activities and recovered stolen property worth more than Rs 633 million during the first five months of 2026 as part of an ongoing crackdown against criminal elements under the command of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
An official told APP on Saturday that Islamabad Police intensified operations against criminals across the federal capital, resulting in significant gains against organized gangs, proclaimed offenders, drug traffickers and illegal weapon holders.
The official said police arrested 588 members of 255 gangs involved in robbery, dacoity, car theft and motorcycle theft cases. Police also recovered 93 vehicles and 308 motorcycles worth millions of rupees from their possession.
According to the official, Islamabad Police successfully traced six blind murder cases during the period and arrested 11 suspects involved in the crimes.
The official said police also arrested 2,121 proclaimed offenders and habitual criminals during the first five months of the year, while 62 suspects involved in aerial firing were taken into custody.
As part of the campaign against illegal weapons, police arrested 945 suspects and recovered 88 Kalashnikovs and rifles, 19 shotguns, 782 pistols, 85 daggers and 4,561 rounds of ammunition.
The official said Islamabad Police continued its anti-narcotics campaign, “Nasha Ab Nahi,” and arrested 749 drug dealers, including 88 suspects involved in supplying narcotics to educational institutions.
During the operations, police recovered more than 132 kilograms of hashish, 81 kilograms of heroin, 72 kilograms of ice (crystal meth) and 3,251 bottles of liquor from the accused.
The official said Islamabad Police organized more than 750 open courts (Khuli Katcheries) to address public complaints and provide prompt solutions to citizens’ issues, benefiting a large number of residents.
Meanwhile, police arrested more than 2,100 professional beggars and conducted over 899 search and combing operations aimed at preventing crime and maintaining law and order in the capital.
DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said protection of citizens’ lives and property remained the foremost priority of Islamabad Police and that operations against criminal elements would continue without discrimination.
