The assurance came during a meeting with a delegation of the Young Doctors Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, led by its President Dr. Asfandyar Bettani, at the Governor House.
The delegation included Chairman of the Young Doctors Association Pakistan Dr. Rizwan Kundi and other office-bearers.
During the meeting, the participants held a detailed discussion on issues being faced by doctors across the province, measures for improving the healthcare sector, and matters relating to the welfare of the medical community.
The delegation urged that the upcoming provincial budget should include a substantial increase in doctors’ salaries to provide relief in view of rising inflation.
The representatives also highlighted the issues confronting doctors in Balochistan and proposed that the provincial government initiate dialogue with the Balochistan government to help resolve the legitimate demands of young doctors there.
They further raised concerns over certain taxes imposed on doctors by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and requested the Governor to take up the matter with the federal government for a review of the taxation policy.
Governor Kundi assured the delegation that he would play his role in effectively raising doctors’ concerns at the appropriate forums and support efforts aimed at strengthening the healthcare sector and addressing the problems faced by the medical fraternity.
