FAISALABAD, Jun 12 (APP): Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora distributed cheques worth Rs 7.56 million among 126 talented students belonging to the minority community at DMC hall here on Friday.
Member Provincial Assembly Mian Tahir Jamil, Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance and Planning Mudassar Mumtaz, Vice President Minority Advisory Council Punjab Kamran Bhatti, Bishop David Emmanuel, Principal DMC Mirza Yasin and representatives of the minority community were also present.
The minister termed that brilliant and intelligent students are the precious asset of the country.
The PML-N government was always striving for the educational and social development of minorities; he said adding that the number of scholarships as well as funds has been doubled for minorities on the instructions of Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
He said that from new fiscal year, 2000 deserving students from minorities will be given scholarships.
He said that first time in province history, 100,000 minority cards have been given to poor families in the dynamic leadership of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The minister said that measures are being taken for the development and prosperity of the minorities from the Punjab Assembly floor.
He said that the talented youth belonging to minorities were also being provided opportunities for preparation of CSS examination with the coordination of Civil Services Academy.
He hoped that that new avenues of development will open in the next three years.
