DC orders timely completion of Muharram arrangements

Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema on Friday directed the concerned authorities to complete all identified works well before Muharram-ul-Haram and to ensure the provision of all possible facilities for mourners.

RAWALPINDI, Jun 12 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema on Friday directed the concerned authorities to complete all identified works well before Muharram-ul-Haram and to ensure the provision of all possible facilities for mourners.
Presiding over a meeting to review arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram, he stressed upon the importance of close coordination and effective communication between the police and license holders to ensure comprehensive security during the holy month.
Dr Cheema directed the relevant departments to immediately verify the lists of volunteers provided by license holders so that the security plan could be implemented effectively.
He further instructed officials to ensure full implementation of all security and administrative measures for the peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram and the maintenance of law and order across the district.
During the meeting, assistant commissioners gave a detailed briefing on preparations for majalis and mourning processions, including security arrangements, cleanliness, lighting, route clearance and other administrative matters.
The meeting also decided that all departments concerned would submit certificates confirming the timely completion of Muharram-related arrangements and development works.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Captain (retd) Shahryar Shirazi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Maleeha Sahar, all assistant commissioners, police officials, representatives of relevant departments and licence holders attended the meeting.
